Carinthia’s first Doppelmayr D-Line will ensure maximum comfort in the ski resort of Bad Kleinkirchheim from the 2020/21 winter season.

Bad Kleinkirchheimer Bergbahnen has been investing heavily in its facilities in the summer of 2020. The Active Park and Mountain Yoga Trail recently opened at the Biosphärenparkbahn Brunnach mountain station. And work is well underway on building Carinthia’s first and Austria’s second all-year-round roller bobsleigh run, Kaiserburg Bob. It is on course to open in October 2020.

The time has come – Bad Kleinkirchheimer Bergbahnen has started its largest construction project of the last five years
On 22 July 2020, the chairlift negotiations with the Federal Ministry were successfully concluded. Construction work started immediately afterwards on 23 July. Alongside building the chairlift, the adjacent pistes and snowmaking facilities are also being adapted. The schedule is tight and ambitious – the corporate group would therefore like to thank the following in particular: the local land owners, the federal and state authorities involved, the planning company Salzmann Ingenieure ZT GmbH, Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, eb&p Umweltbüro GmbH, all construction companies working on the project and, last but not least, the employees of Bad Kleinkirchheimer Bergbahnen.

Maximum comfort for guests through state-of-the-art chairlift technology
The new high-performance chairlift from Doppelmayr can accommodate up to six people. It impresses with maximum comfort and a functional design that offer a quiet and relaxing journey. Optimum safety conditions are ensured by automated mechanisms, such as the patented RPD (rope position detection) system. In an emergency, the chairlift is slowed down or brought to a complete halt.

The new chairlift system has a transport capacity of 2,300 people per hour. In these times of social distancing, the new 6-seater chairlift will offer ski guests a quick, safe and comfortable way of getting from one point to the next. The new Spitzeck chairlift will serve two main runs (Spitzeck and Mallnock) from the coming winter season and will function as a high-performance connecting lift for the Nockalm/Scharte ski area.

EUROPE’S LONGEST FLOW COUNTRY TRAIL

EUROPE’S LONGEST FLOW COUNTRY TRAIL

From the Kaiserburgbahn mountain station to Unterwirt Hüttn.
There are currently 3 sections of the trail with a length of almost 11.3 kilometres available.

Section 4 – from Unterwirt Hüttn to the Kaiserburg valley station – is still under construction. Depending on construction progress, this section will be gradually opened for use by the mid-September. Until the completion of section 4, it will be possible to continue downhill from Unterwirt Hüttn on the forest road, which also serves as an approved mountain bike route (Route 09, 11).

On the way down into the valley, bikers can enjoy approx. 970 metres of altitude difference and a gradient of around 8 percent as well as rolling, feeder roads, small slopes and some curves on the gravel path. Along the path there are many places to rest and relax, ideal for taking a breath. There are plenty of overtaking possibilities so that beginners and professionals can use the trail safely at the same time.

Bike Parcours

At the beginning of September, the 1000 m² Bike Course opened at the valley station of the Kaiserburgbahn. This consists of two sections and provides the ideal preparation for the Flow Country Trail.

“Training Courses” | for children & beginners
One-metre wide, gravelled circuit with a total length of approx. 120 m. On the course, which features several mobile wooden elements and permanently mounted obstacles, cyclists of all age groups can learn the art of balance and improve their biking agility. The elements are no higher than 40 cm in order to prevent heavy falls. The circuit is even suitable for young children (on a bicycle or scooter)

Pumptrack | for beginners and advanced riders
A pump track is a specially designed mountain bike course. The objective here is to build up speed, without pedalling, using up and down body movements on the bike. The bike trail is about one metre wide and features rollers as well as other elements, such as banked turns and jumps, and can be ridden in both directions.
